Launched at CES 2015, the Saygus V2 smartphone has the potential to be something exceptionally wonderful.
The company has packed in some wonderful and strong specifications which even leading tech giants like Apple and Samsung haven’t offered us, as yet.
In terms of design, the Saygus V2 smartphone has magnesium frames and an aluminium rim around the sides. The IPx7 certified smartphone is waterproof and can be submerged in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes. It sports a 5 inch display with Full HD ‘ArcticLink III’ sunlight-readable screen. It also has front and back light sensors for screen lighting control. For extra protection, the company has added Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
The device also has a built in storage of 64GB and 2 built in microSD card slots which can support up to 128GB a slot. That is a whooping 320GB of storage. This has clearly not been seen on any smartphone or even tablets, for that matter.
The ‘dream’ phone is powered by a 2.5Ghz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor paired with 3GB RAM.
And in terms of camera, the device has gone to a whole other level. The Saygus V2 packs in a 21MP rear camera along with a 13MP front facing camera and they both provide Optical Image Stabilisation. The highlight would be that there is a dedicated camera shutter button.
In terms of connectivity, the Saygus V2 has Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4G/5G) 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC (Android Beam), Bluetooth 4.0, micro-USB 2.0/3.0, 3.5mm stereo audio and microphone jack.
The Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS smartphone offers a 3100 mAh removable battery which claims will offer long lasting talk time and the presence of wireless Qi charging will help improve the battery life. In other features, the smartphone has a biometric fingerprint side scanner and comes with Harman Kardon sound tech paired with 3D audio. The phone could feel a bit bulky but it weighs 141 grams.
Saygus is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, US and currently has no plans to bring the device to India. The booth at CES indicated that the phone could be priced at a close to $700 (roughly Rs 43,000).
