HTC and Valve have announced the release of their "Vive" virtual reality headset, set to hit the market later this year.
The news comes ahead of the Game Developers Conference held in San Francisco later this week, at which HTC is expected to be present.
According to the brand, the headset will let users "experience sights and sounds vivid and lifelike enough to transport you to another place, another time", with experiences ranging from Ancient Rome to the intergalactic.
A developer's edition will be released this spring, with the consumer version expected to be made commercially available at the end of 2015.
