Bajaj Auto hoping to sell 15000 units of Pulsar AS

Indian two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has taken an aggressive stance towards the country’s market and is planning to extract good numbers from its recently launched Adventure Sport (AS) series. Bajaj made two additions to its Pulsar series, namely AS150 and AS200, and it is banking heavily on the success of both models. If Pulsar RS200, new CT200 and Platina ES are added to this line-up, it takes Bajaj Auto’s tally for 2015 launches to five. Now, according to a report by Autocar, Bajaj Auto is hoping that Pulsar AS150 and AS200 will combine together to deliver sales of 15000 units per month on an average.

The Indian automaker has projected the AS series as a group of bikes that are perfect for riding long distances, especially for the younger generation. Both AS150 and 200 feature body fairing, projector headlamps and extended visors. Reports claim that Bajaj Auto wants to sell 10,000 units of AS150 and 5,000 units of AS200 per month.

Rajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director of the firm, put to bed all rumours regarding the discontinuation of Pulsar 220, claiming that nothing such is going to happen. The 76-year old said that Bajaj Pulsar 220 is one of the three models that have kept the legacy of this series alive (other two being Pulsar 180 and 150). Adding further to bulletin board, Bajaj confirmed that the firm will be commencing production of Pulsar 400, which was displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo, in the second half of 2015.
Bajaj Auto’s urgency to set targets on new models comes on the back of the decline they have seen in the 2014-15 period. Though its domestic sales had dropped by 15.65 per cent, the firm was quick to point out that it had posted a growth of around 14 per cent in exports.
