Keeping its launching spree in active mode, the German luxury automaker has introduced the 2015 version of its very renowned premium SUV Q3 in the country. Launched at a starting price tag of Rs. 28.99 lac, the new car comes almost after 3 years of its predecessor that independently turned out to be Audi’s fortunes in India. With a list of cosmetic changes and few additional features, the 2015 Audi Q3 is all set to fight against the likes of rivals Volvo V40 Cross Country, BMW 1 Series and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
Starting with the outer profile, the car gets delicate changes on front facia. The new single frame hexagonal grille is now painted in black with chrome or matte silver surroundings. The grille is flawlessly blended into the revamped headlamps, which are coming with optional LED lighting. On the rear profile, the car is largely the same as the outgoing model but still features few alterations to make it different from the predecessor. The new LED tail lamps, minutely reworked bumpers and dynamic turn indicators same as available in R8 and A8, are now there on new Q3. Moreover, you will also see fresh alloy wheels pattern in this latest version.
Coming to the interiors, the design remains unchanged on most of the part. The vehicle now offers two options for cabin; the all black treatment along with the older black-beige blend. There can be seen aluminium inserts in place of faux wood and the car also gets restructured MMI system with navigation, 20GB hard drive storage capacity and two SD card slots. The new centre console with 3D aluminium inlays and instrument cluster with color display have also been offered in the SUV. In addition to this, an all-new steering wheel with gloss black accents has also been provided that gives a sportier feeling inside the cabin.
Mechanically, the 2015 Audi Q3 gets under its hood the same engine specs as being offered on current version. The 2.0-liter 35 TDI 4-cylinders in the car was supposed to be retuned to be more powerful than the current one and globally Audi did the same but for India, no changes has been made to the engine. The motor will deliver 174 bhp power output @ 4200 rpm and 380 Nm of peak torque in between 1750–2500 rpm. As far as transmission is concerned, the engine comes coupled with a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox plus the 6-Speed manual transmission. The SUV is available in both Quattro all-wheel-drive and a front-wheel-drive options. Speaking on the petrol variant, the carmaker might also launch petrol Audi Q3 in India at a later stage.
Well, Audi is no doubt on expansion spree and seems to fulfil its promise of introducing 10 new vehicles in India this year. Before Q3, Audi launched RS6 Avant and RS7 in the country. Both the cars come via CBU route. The 2015 RS7 sports many updates like new honeycombed single framed grille, redesigned bumper and LED headlamps with optional Matrix LED lights. This car is around Rs. 12 lac costlier than its predecessor. On the other hand, the launch of RS6 Avant made a history in Audi’s books as the carmaker forayed into the estate cars segment with the launch of this vehicle. The performance oriented estate version of the A6- the RS6 Avant was launched at a price tag of Rs. 1.35 Crore in India.
It is pretty clear that the introduction of Audi TT and RS7 in India boosted the leadership position of luxury giant here, and the RS6 Avant further brought to a huge round of applauds for the company from all corners of the country. And with the introduction of facelift Q3 SUV, the position of the brand will further improve.
