I phone 6 caught fire

A man is claiming that his iPhone not only bent in his pocket, it punctured the battery and caught fire in his jeans pocket causing second degree burns to his leg. Phillip Lechter an entrepreneur and business coach stated on his blog he and his family were riding in a rickshaw, when it crashed. He says that his iPhone 6 which was in the front pocket of his jeans hit the wall, and bent nearly 90 degrees. The iPhone 6 punctured the battery even though it was in a leather case and caught fire. Lechter claims that he experienced second degree burns on his leg. "I felt a burning sensation on my leg and then saw and smelled smoke from my pants (trousers)," he wrote."I surveyed the rickshaw quickly and could not find anything that could have set me on fire. Then it hit me, my phone was in my pocket." A passer-by threw a cup of water on his jeans to put out the fire. "The doctor's report described a 11.5 cm x 10.5 cm burn area on my right leg and classified the burn as second-degree with first-degree burns surrounding the area," Lechter states on his blog. "According to the Doctor, the burn will require cleanliness, antibiotics and pain management for treatment." iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have attracted a lot of controversy since their launch last month. Apple faced "Bendgate" where iPhone owners claimed that their iPhones were bending in their pockets. Apple opened its labs to journalists and showed off the durability tests it puts smartphones through. Apple's vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller stated that the company has received only nine reports of bent iPhone 6 Plus phones, which is a very small number. Source: Philip Lechter.
