The launch was announced on micro blogging platform Twitter. But despite the launch, there are apprehensions about the success of the handset given the fact that similarly priced handset Xiaomi Redmi Note comes with impeccable features and specifications.
The way it was sold out in six minutes flat shows that the handset will make the life of other smartphones in this price range very difficult, given the exceptional specifications that are the hallmark of Xiaomi handset.
The new series right now comes in variants namely Omega 5.0 and Omega 5.5. The two handsets come with HC IPS screens, 1.4 GHz Octa-Core MTK6592M Processor, Quad-Core 600MHz Mali™ 450 GPU and 1 GB RAM.
This is the second handset that runs on XOLO’s HIVE operating system that is said to be exceptional when it comes to customisation for users as well as the opportunity to become part of the development process. The company’s partnership with Vodafone ensures you 500 MB free data usage for two months if you go for Omega 5.0 and 1 GB free data for two months if you go for Omega 5.5.
The major difference in both the handsets, other than size is their cameras. Omega 5.0 comes with 8 MP rear snapper with Sony Exmor R sensor and 2MP front camera. It also has 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, that is expandable and 2,100 mAh battery.
The smaller version’s price begins at Rs 8,999. On the other hand the bigger version is better in many ways. Omega 5.5 comes with 13 MP rear snapper, with Sony Exmor RS sensor, 2 MP front facing camera and 2,600 mAh battery.
