Acer 15.6-Inch Chromebook Hits CES 2015 as Largest Ever

Acer Cromebook

Aside from coming with rudimentary specifications, another distinguishing factor about Google’s Chromebooks is their size – till this week, we hadn’t seen too many such machines that are bigger than 11.6 inches or 13.3 inches. But Acer wants to stand out with a larger version of its Chromebook, as it will be announcing at CES 2015 a 15.6-inch version of the machine.
Acer says the larger display will “help customers accomplish more,” and aside from that, users will be able to choose from numerous configurations to help them to that end. There’s a Full HD (1920 x 1080) version and an HD (1366 x 768) version, and once you’ve chosen the resolution type, you can choose between an Intel Core i3 or Intel Celeron chipset. Hard drive choices are 16 GB or 32 GB SSD, and RAM choices are 2 GB or 4 GB. No specific release dates have been confirmed, but pricing for the entry-level setup will be at $249.99.
Other details buyers should remember include the new Acer Chromebook’s features – an HD webcam and two upward-facing speakers – and its 4.85-pound weight and durable design. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, MIMO 2x2Wi-Fi 802.11ac, while other features include USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, and SD card support.
