Motorola Moto E gets a price cut in India

NEW DELHI: Motorola's entry-level Android smartphone, Moto E, has got a price cut in India. The phone, which retails exclusively on online marketplace Flipkart, is now available at Rs 5,999, Rs 1,000 less than its original price of Rs 6,999.

The cheapest smartphone in Motorola's portfolio, Moto E sports a 4.3-inch display with 960x540p resolution. Motorola has used a nano-coating that makes the smartphone resistant to splashes, so that it does not get damaged in rain.

The dual-sim phone runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS, and Motorola has promised that it will upgrade the smartphone to the next major version of Android.

In fact, Motorola India is inviting members of the Motorola Feedback Network for the Android 5.0 soak test for Moto E, making India the testing ground for the software upgrade for the smartphone. If the soak test goes well, with no major functionality issues or bugs, Motorola will release the software update to Moto E as an over-the-air (OTA) update in a few weeks.

Moto E packs a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage. Unlike Moto X and Moto G(first gen), this phone supports microSD cards for storage expansion. The budget offering of Motorola sports a 5MP camera on the back, but does not have rear LED flash and front camera. It can access the internet over 2G, 3G and Wi-Fi networks, while data can be transferred via microUSB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0. The smartphone has a decent 1,980mAh battery.
