Windows 10 for phones released; here's how to download

After much anticipation, Microsoft has finally released Windows 10 for phones. The new release is available as a Technical Preview for Windows Insiders and is initially compatible with select models. You can find a complete guide on how to download the new Windows version on your smartphone right here.

To download Windows 10 on a compatible Lumia smartphone, users first need to join Windows Insider Program from here and then register their device to receive new builds. The update will thereafter be available automatically to the device as an over-the-air (OTA) update directly from Microsoft severs. Users can roll their Lumia smartphones back to the previous operating system any time when they want.
It is worth noting here that Windows 10 for phones is currently available in its early stage and “very much under development”. This means that users could encounter several bugs after downloading the update on their phones.
Windows 10 for phones has several features that are available within the latest Window 10 Technical Preview for desktops. In addition, there are new features and tweaks specifically for Windows Phone running Lumia smartphones. These new features and tweaks include full-size background image for Start screen, more number of quick actions in Action Center, interactive notifications, an enhanced speech-to-text capability and an improved Photos app.
