Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Launching Today

Country’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto is launching the new fully faired 200 cc Pulsar motorcycle RS 200 today. Bajaj has priced the base variant at INR 1.18 lakh and the top variant with ABS at INR 1.3 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi). According to the company this new 200cc bike will be the fastest Pulsar yet and also be the first Bajaj bike to come with a fully faired body. Judging by all that we know about the bike, it is safe to assume that we are looking at a tough player in the 200cc to 300cc segment.

On the design front the all new Pulsar RS 200 carries that beefy appearance of a sports bike. Being the first fully faired bike built by Bajaj, the design looks fresh and sporty. Moreover though the bike shares most of its features with the 200 NS, in terms of looks the bike is much similar to the Pulsar 375SS that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

As for its powerplant, the new Pulsar RS 200 comes with a 199.5 cc, 4-valve Triple Spark DTSi Engine with Fuel-Injection. The fuel-injected motor will not only result in crisp throttle but also avoid cold starting problems and increase the power output marginally. The tuned-up 199.5 cc churns out 24.5PS of power and 18.6Nm of torque, while mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike’s kerb weight is 165kg with a fuel tank capacity 13-litres and power to weight ratio of 148.5.

Some notable features include twin-projector headlamp, a small-side slung exhaust, spilt seat design, the 200NS inspired plastic splatter guard and similar looking clip-on handlebars. Though the bike comes with the same frame, suspension and breaks that we find on the 200NS, the RS 200 will likely be the first Bajaj bike offer ABS (as an optional feature of course).
