Xiaomi Redmi 2 gets a price cut in India


As reported earlier, Xiaomi India has reduced the price of its Redmi 2, its budget smartphone by Rs 1,000. The phone is now available at Rs 5,999 on Mi.com, Xiaomi's official website. 


The phone is also available under a special exchange offer on Flipkart for as low as Rs 3,999, depending on the valuation of your old phone. 
The 4G-capable smartphone was originally launched in India in March this year at Rs 6,999.
The phone also sports an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera and packs a 2,200mAh battery. It supports dual-sim, 3G, 4G, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity options.



At the new price, Xiaomi Redmi 2 will be competing with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos, Huawei Honor Holly, CoolPad Dazen 1 and Lava Iris X1 Grand.

The Redmi 2 smartphone features 4.7-inch HD display and runs Android 4.4 KitKat skinned with MIUI 6.0 software. Powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor and 1GB RAM, Redmi 2 has 8GB of internal storage and can house microSD cards of up to 32GB.
