You can now upload HD images on Instagram

Popular photo sharing social media app 'Instagram' has finally made a long requested tweak in its source code. The standard size of an Instagram image is 640x640 pixels, until now. From the past week Instagram has made some changes and started storing the images in a 1080x1080 pixels resolution.

An Instagram spokesperson has confirmed that they are indeed gradually rolling out the 1080p resolution change across iOS and Android ecosystem. Some people might already be switched to the higher resolution feed. Though, they have no plans to make the web version packed in pixels as their prime focus is on the mobile platform.
Though currently, if you can't see the higher resolution images you can dig around the source code on the web version. Use the Find function and search in for '.jpg'. The first result will be a URL leading you to a 1080x1080 pixel version of the image.
