Sony Rolls Out Android 5.1.1

Sony Xperia Z series devices will soon rejoice as Sony is finally rolling out the much anticipated Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware.


According to the company, the update will land on the following devices starting Sept. 9: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi, as well as Xperia Tablet Z LTE models.
The company, on the other hand, said the latest update can only be seeded to these specific variants, as of the moment: C6602 and C6603 variants (for Xperia Z); C6503 and C6506 variants (Xperia ZL); C5503 only (for Xperia ZR); SGP311 and SGP312 (for Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi); and SGP321 only (for Xperia Tablet Z LTE models).
In addition, the Xperia Blog confirmed the Stagefright exploit has not been totally patched in the update.
"Looks like the Stagefright exploit has not been fully patched in this update. We will attach some FTF firmware links in this post in due course, but in the meantime, if you have installed the update, let us know your initial impressions below," reads the blog post.
