NVIDIA SHIELED GAMING TABLET

The Nvidia Shieled was a first attempt by graphics chip- and card-maker Nvidia, but it gave the company a taste for building gadgets that wouldn't go away, so now they're back with the Shield Tablet, a gaming monster that doubles as a $299 Android slate.

The Shield Tablet is an 8” gaming-focused device with a 1920×1200 HD touch display, NVIDIA’s own Tegra K1 192 core Kepler GPU, a 2.2GHz ARM Cortex A15 CPU, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB or 32GB of on-board flash memory. When paired with the optional Shield wireless controller, you can play in a multitude of ways; Android, local PC, via the Cloud, or on your TV. It also features front-facing stereo speakers that are said to be booming, LTE connectivity, a Mini-HDMI port, front and rear 5MP cameras, and the new Shield supports game-casting to Twitch, so everyone can see how terrible you are at that game you play for three hours a day

The first SHIELD gaming device garnered a lot of buzz at CES 2013. Powered strictly by Android, it was a an all-in-one competing with the likes of the Playstation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. This time around, NVIDIA wanted to make a full-on gaming tablet. So in addition to the Android Play Store game library, gamers can play titles from Steam, many of them that were once only available on the PS4.
